From the M25 take the M3 to junction 8 and then the A303 towards the
south west.
At the intersection of the A303 and the A36 take the A36 towards
Warminster, the A362 towards Frome and then the A361 to Shepton Mallet.
You will not need to actually go into Warminster or Frome. (There is
a cross country route turning right at Stonehenge a few miles before the
A36 intersection,going through Shrewton and Chitterne via the A344 and
B390, and joining the A36 at Heytesbury just before Warminster)
On the outskirts of Shepton Mallet you will pass Charlton House Hotel on
your left, go straight over the traffic lights a couple of hundred yards
later and then turn right at the next traffic lights onto the A37
towards Bristol and Bath (by the Charlton Inn).
Once on the A37 continue up, down and out of Shepton Mallet, up the hill
and past the turning onto the A367(do not take this turning – stay on
the A37) and then look out for NM Jaguar on your right (3 miles from
Shepton Mallet). Immediately past NM Jaguar and the pub next door (The
Old Mendip Coaching Inn) take the turning to the left onto the B3135
towards Cheddar.
Follow this road for 2 miles until you come to a cross roads where you
have to stop and turn left onto the B3139 towards Horrington. After
about half a mile you will pass a pub on your left (The Slab House Inn)
and 400 yards further on turn right into a lane (Haydon Drove)
signposted to The Stoneworks. If you start descending the hill down
towards Wells and
West Horrington
you have gone too far.
We are about 400 yards down the lane on the right immediately before a
sharp left hand turn.
